Weekly Surf Report
January 31, 2010
National Forecast
Cribbean Coast - Solid overhead surf starts the week, but fades first on Thursday. Drops a foot each day through the weekend. More on tap from NNE for next week, but not bigger than waist to chest.
Pacific Coast - There is some lingering chest high sets from a WNW swell, but it fades by late Tuesday, leaving weak waist high surf from the SW for the rest of the week and into the weekend.
The Long Shot - The first sets from the South won't arrive until a week from Wednesday, pushing the surf up to overhead. Then you have to wait another week for a bigger SW swell to arrive. Until then, keep out the fish and longboard on the Pacific side.

Playa Grande Report
** From Louis at Hotel Las Tortugas -
The surf is dropping after a couple of classic days on Wednseday and Thursday. Yesterday, with near perfect off-shore conditions, the few bigger sets were head high at best, and somewhat inconsistent. Surprisingly, the warm water persists. The high tides have moved into the afternoon as the perigee moon pulls extreme high tides and shortens the surf windows in Playa Grande to the delight the soft top brigade and their zealous instructors.
** From Colin at Una Ola -
Knee to waist high waves with fair to good shape. (2-3ft) The waves are small again this morning, but its looking pretty good with some nice little waves coming through. We have steady offshore winds with good surfing conditions.
I expect it to get quite a bit better on the incoming tide this afternoon. It looks like it will be a good day to break out you longboard or fish and catch a few waves. Surf forecasts are predicting a slight decrease in swell over the weekend. Hopefully, we will start to see another swell next week.
I was an idiot, bodysurfing to recover my lost surfboard resulted in three stitches for my carelessness.
